After Figeac in 1996, the second GERM School was held from 16 to 22 March 2008 in Cargèse, Corsica. The aims of this school were to teach the fundamental principles of nuclear magnetic resonance to young researchers embarking on a career in this field. The programme covered basic principles, multidimensional NMR, anisotropic interactions in solids, dynamics and relaxation, modelling and simulation, as well as an introduction to imaging. The school was organised around lectures given by experienced teachers, and workshops in small groups allowing the concepts presented in the lectures to be explored in greater depth. The last half-day was devoted to an overview of cutting-edge research in NMR applied to chemistry, biology and materials science, using relevant examples. It was organised in a warm and friendly atmosphere, allowing for informal exchanges during the many free periods provided.
Thank you very much for your participation in Cargèse,
